Remove Algae from Polytunnels

With the number of polytunnels out numbering the traditional greenhouse there comes a problem when light is getting blocked due to a build up of algae and dirt. Until now the current solution was to do nothing and cost in a replacement when it was deemed necessary. This is both expensive and damaging to the environment. If only there was a way to improve the light to increase the life span of the outer plastic.

Precision drone services is please to be able to offer a cost effective alternative solution. Prevent plastic going into landfill and prolonging the life expectancy of the plastic by applying a cleaning agent to remove both algae and dirt from the outer surface. We are pleased to announce that a trial has been completed and we are now able to offer a polytunnel cleaning service by drone. This solution adds extra life expectancy to each tunnel and vastly improves the amount of light getting through the plastic.

Polytunnel Cleaning Services

The industry says approximately 1 percent loss of light = 1 percent loss of productivity. Working in the horticulture sector you know this can have a massive impact on your annual profit. Polytunnel cleaning using a drone is by far the most cost efficient way to safely clean the outer plastic. After successful trials we are now able to offer this service and apply the product using drone technology. Due to the installation of many tunnels packed together, its impossible to do this any other way that isn’t both time consuming or costly. Our drones can apply the product with ease without touching the surface. With precision accuracy and careful mapping the drone technology offers centimetre accuracy.

Apply Shading Paint to Polytunnels

For the hot summer months (if 2025 wasn’t hot enough) we offer a service to apply shading paint across the tops of polytunnels. A once messy and near impossible solution is now available to complete with ease. Our big horticultural drones are capable of spraying shading paint and a precise rate to help reduce the amount of direct sunlight and reflect heat from the sun rays. At the end of the summer we can arrange to come back and clean it off again using the ReduClean product.

Based in Yorkshire our team is ideally situated to offer polytunnel shading and cleaning services throughout the UK.

Precision drones applying shading paint to green houses in East Yorkshire

Precision drones attended sites across East Yorkshire during April and May to apply ReduHeat shading paint across the roofs of each wide span green house. With one hectare of glass covered in one hour, we can make a health and safety nightmare turn into a safe hassle free experience. Our services now include cleaning agents to remove algae and dirt from glass roofs and polytunnels.

Our ground staff take care of the paint mixing and refilling the drone. The windows are closed during the operation so we need to act fast to prevent plant damage.

Later in the year we will be back to remove the paint using ReduClean cleaning agent. This will allow sunlight and heat to get into the green houses during the cold winter months.

Please get in touch if you are interested in our services. We can apply shading paint to any size of glass house or polytunnels and we are happy to start with a trial of a small section.
